Geotextile Fabrics

Geotextiles are permeable fabrics used with soil and other geosynthetics for separation, filtration, reinforcement, protection, and drainage control.

  • Woven & Non-Woven
  • Drainage & Filtration
  • Separation
  • Sub-Grade Stabilization
  • Pavement Overlay Geotextiles
  • High Strength Geotextiles
  • Geogrids
  • Uniaxial Geogrids

DRAINAGE AND FILTRATION

Our nonwoven polypropylene geotextiles are staple fibers used for soil separation and drainage.  They combine high durability, along with excellent physical and hydraulic properties.  Nonwoven geotextiles are produced from polypropylene staple fibers and combine high water flow rates and durability while providing excellent soil retention.  Nonwoven geotextiles are used in a wide variety of applications including subsurface drainage and roadway separation.

Nonwoven Geotextiles function for:

  • Separation
  • Drainage
  • Filtration

Nonwoven geotextiles easily conform to ground or trench surfaces for trouble free installation.  They are very cost effective.  Nonwovens have high permittivity properties that allow high water flow while having excellent soil retention.  And they are chemically stable for use in aggressive environments.  Nonwovens can be used in landfill applications, barriers, highways, under airfields, athletic fields and various other applications.

SEPARATION

Our non-woven geotextiles are comprised of polypropylene staple fibers providing excellent physical and hydraulic properties.  Non-woven geotextiles high permeability properties provide high water flow rates while providing excellent filtration properties.  They can be an economical solution to many civil engineering applications including a cost-effective alternative to graded aggregate filters.  Light weight non-wovens are predominately used for subsurface drainage applications and heavier non-wovens can be used when you need strength and filtration whether it be in a pond or a heavy rock section.

SUB-GRADE STABILIZATION

Woven slit film polypropylene geotextiles provide separation for subgrades by preventing mixing of subgrade soils and base aggregates. Our woven geotextiles are comprised of UV stabilized polypropylene slit film which provides excellent puncture and tear resistant properties in addition to high tensile strengths.  The woven construction offers excellent resistance to installation abuse and has a high modulus to provide outstanding performance in a wide range of applications.

PAVEMENT OVERLAY GEOTEXTILES

Our nonwoven asphalt overlay fabric forms a membrane that minimizes surface water from penetrating pavement systems and provides a stress relief interlayer which inhibits the growth of reflective cracks.  Produced from polypropylene staple fibers, overlay fabric is heat set to provide a waterproofing barrier.  It provides stress relief, reduces reflective cracking and provides a waterproof barrier as the tack coat and geotextile bonds to the road surface.

3.5 oz. Overlay Geotextile – Available in 10.5’, 12.5’ or 14.5’ wide rolls

  • Approved for ITD Pavement Overlay Geotextile

4.1 oz. Overlay Geotextile – Available in 10.5’, 12.5’ or 14.5’ wide rolls

  •  Approved for AASHTO M288 Paving Fabric

Specialty also provides innovative solutions utilizing the latest technologies with fiberglass and geogrid reinforced paving fabrics.  For more information call Specialty at 888-574-7732.

HIGH STRENGTH GEOTEXTILES

Innovations in the geotextile market are trending towards a high performance geotextile that will give an all in one solution to almost any issue encountered in the field.  High performance geotextiles are used for base course reinforcement and soil stabilization applications.  Produced from high tenacity polypropylene yarns, high strength geotextiles are specifically designed to provide separation, filtration, and reinforcement for moderate to severe site conditions.  These geotextiles are extremely versatile, insuring long-term performance in new roadway construction.  The combination of high tensile strengths and excellent filtration and separation characteristics make high strength geotextiles the complete geosynthetic.
